Main component of most of the oils are triglycerides consisting of fatty acids bound to glycerin. Jojoba oil, the exception to the rule here, is, in chemical terms, a liquid wax and its properties can be compared with the sperm oil (cetaceum).

The triglycerides of the wheatgerm oil contain e.g. palmitic acid, which is one of the main constituents of the skin barrier, oleic acid and also a high percentage of linoleic acid (about 50%), which is the essential fatty acid for the ceramide I formation in the skin. In addition, wheatgerm and avocado oil contain 2 to 6% of phytosterols (plant sterols with a similar molecular structure as the human cholesterol) as well as natural vitamins. Even the chain length of fatty acids is an important factor for the effectiveness of the treatment. Apricot stone oil rather contains short-chain fatty acids, macadamia nut oil, on the other hand, is pre-dominantly provided with long-chain fatty acids. In product descriptions this is often reflected in the terms "light oil for the young skin" and "rich oil for the mature skin".

* All oils can be used as an addition to the main cream, as an additive to massage cream or in its pure form, as an independent preparation.
